In Australia, residential aged care facilities include hostels and nursing homes, which provide low care services and high care services respectively. Applicants for both facilities must have had their health assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team to determine which level of care is appropriate to their health needs before lodging their application to a particular care facility.
Australian Nursing Home Foundation is running three residential care facilities to provide low care and high care services. They are:
-
Chow Cho Poon Nursing Home in Earlwood (High Care)
-
Bernard Chan Nursing Home in Burwood (High Care)
-
Lucy Chieng Aged Care Centre in Hurstville (Low Care and, High Care including 15 dementia specific beds)
Fee
The cost to a resident within our facilities can vary considerably. Many residents are eligible for government assistance, the remaining costs need to be covered by the resident. For further information regarding the cost of residential care please refer to the Commonwealth Government’s Department of Health & Ageing web site.
Admission::
To apply for admission to our facilities, the applicant must be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team for his/her eligibility. If the person is eligible for admission to residential care services, an admission form should be completed and returned to ANHF. All applications will be assessed by the Admission Committee of ANHF based on the physical, psychological and social needs of the client as well as taking into consideration the tangible impacts on family carers in light of the long waiting list at our facilities.
