Australian Seniors Expo 30 May 2019

Australian Seniors Expo 30 May 2019

Back by popular demand, the Australian Seniors Expo 2019 was held on Thursday, 30th May for the first time, at Hurstville Entertainment Centre – The Marana Auditorium. This free family event attracted over 1,000 attendees, featuring over 30 exhibitors. A live stage hosting a diverse range of health talks from leading industry professionals and entertainment was delivered throughout the day.

Official Opening

The official opening was officiated by special guests Cr Kevin Greene, Mayor of Georges River Council; Ms Suzette Skobier, Assistant Director, Health Grants Network, Department of Health; Mr Jacky Cheung, Executive Director of TV Media and with Ms Ellen Louie, our Chairman.

Attendees had the freedom and opportunity to meet face-to-face and get the best information available from over 30 exhibitors offering choices for active and healthy ageing. We again, proudly hosted an extensive range of exhibitors across geriatric and allied health services, financial advice, smart technology for seniors, home and community care services, healthy eating and nutritional supplements, ageing related diseases, aged care furniture and equipment, seniors housing, community resources, government and advocacy agencies, and funeral services.

The Australian Hearing stall was a popular exhibitor this year, where attendees could do a hearing test in a mobile hearing van. This meant seniors who require these essential health services were able to get tested on the day and learn more about living with hearing loss.

Also very popular and with a growing reputation – the medical and allied health desk featured registered nurses, who carried out free health checks such as BMI, blood pressure for seniors. In addition, a consulting dietitian, accredited exercise physiologist and podiatrist were also present to provide invaluable advice and information to attendees. Live Stage Entertainment

Hosted by ANHF, our MC Rebecca Yee provided a full program, filled with various talks from leading industry professionals, allied health professionals and specialists during the course of the day. The stage featured two Laughter Workout interactive shows from the Fusion Culture Group led by Ms Sylvia Liu.
