Board Members

The Board draws on relevant corporate governance and best practice principles to enhance the charitable purpose and performance of the organisation and the care it offers.

Ellen Louie

Chairman

Ellen Louie’s professional background is in the legal sector. She has practised as a solicitor for over 35 years in the Sydney CBD and currently has her own law practice. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Law from the University of Sydney. Through her family, Ellen has been associated with the Foundation since its inception, and she has been the Foundation’s legal advisor for many years.
Ellen officially joined the Board of Directors and Trustees in July 2009 and has been the chairman since 2012. Ellen recognises the challenges older people of from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds face in understanding and accessing the Australian aged care system due to language barriers and cultural differences. With growing demand for aged care for people from CALD communities, she continues to be passionate about providing the kind of support that will help older people live their lives joyfully and to the full and will also assist their families.
Ellen is committed to continuing the good work of her predecessors and honouring the loyal service of the Foundation’s dedicated staff and volunteers. Her vision is for ANHF to provide fully integrated aged care in all areas of Sydney that is both affordable and of high quality and meets the needs of older Chinese people and other seniors in the CALD community. Achieving this, while ensuring ANHF lives out its mission to care for each elderly person as if they were family, will strengthen ANHF’s position as a leading provider of culturally specific residential and community-based aged care in New South Wales.
