AGED CARE VOLUNTEER VISITORS SCHEME (ACVVS)

Offers meaningful companionship to older people who might otherwise experience social isolation and loneliness. Volunteers are matched with individuals living independently at home or in residential aged care, based on shared interests.

Becoming an aged care volunteer visitor can be a rewarding and life-changing experience.
You will:

  • make a new friend
  • share ideas and stories
  • support someone who may be feeling isolated or lonely

Volunteers usually visit for about an hour once a fortnight, at a time that suits both the volunteer and the person receiving aged care services. Volunteers can visit the older person in:

  • their own home
  • their aged care residence
