How to access home care
You may be eligible for government assistance to help cover the cost of your home care services. Alternatively, you can choose to pay privately.
Government Funding
Support at Home Program (SAH)
- Government funded
- For older people living at home with complex care needs
- Funding may cover a wide range of services and multiple service types to meet complex needs.
- Income and asset-tested client contribution may apply.
- My Aged Care government assessment required
Government Funding
Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
- Government funded
- For older people who can continue to live at home with some basic support.
- Typical funding may cover single or a couple of services types at a time.
- My Aged Care government assessment required
- Government assessment required
Private
Private services
- Fully self-funded (private payment)
- For people of all care levels, including those not eligible for government programs or funding.
- Services are fully flexible and tailored to individual preferences.
- Clients pay for services they choose to use.

Private Services
For private home care services, please contact us directly at (02) 9784 0840 to discuss your needs and start your services immediately.
Government-Funded Aged Care Services
Follow these steps to apply through My Aged Care:
Contact My Aged Care
Call 1800 200 422 or visit My Aged Care to check your eligibility and start your application. For Cantonese and Mandarin interpretation, please call 131 450.
Complete an Assessment
An aged care service assessor will evaluate your care needs. Assessments may take place:
- At your own home
- Over the phone
- While you are in hospital
The assessment identifies the type and level of support you need to remain safe and independent at home.
Receive a Referral and Approval
After your assessment, if you are eligible for government-funded home care services, My Aged Care will provide:
- Your approved care classification for the Support at Home Program (SAH) or the types of services approved under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
- A referral code to give to your chosen provider

- Discuss your support needs and preferences
- Explain available services and funding arrangements
- Help you develop a personalised care plan
Start Receiving Services
Once your care plan is finalised and funding is arranged, services can begin. Our staff will deliver care tailored to your individual needs, helping you stay safe, independent, and supported at home.
