How to apply
If you're seeking government assistance for aged care services, you'll need to apply for an in-person assessment with My Aged Care.
Check your eligibility
To check your eligibility for an aged care assessment, please call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. For Cantonese and Mandarin interpretation, please call 131 450.
Apply for an assessment
If you're eligible, call 1800 200 422 or complete My Aged Care's online application ,It usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
Prepare for your assessment
Visit the My Aged Care website for a full list of things you should prepare before your assessment.
Have your assessment
Your aged care assessment will be conducted at your home or in hospital. You are encouraged to have a support person, such as a family member or your carer, with you during the assessment.
Get your assessment outcome
Your assessment letter will detail the aged care services you are approved to receive and include your individual support plan.
Understand the costs and fees
Visit the My Aged Care website for more information about aged care home costs and fees. To find out exactly how much you will pay for a permanent care in an aged care home, you will need an income or means (income+assets) assessment. More information is available at My Aged Care website.
