Volunteer Service

Volunteers play an important role in the development and provision of our quality services, so we can continue to support elderly Australians through a variety of aged care services and programs.

The Australian Nursing Home Foundation provides a Community Visitors Scheme (CVS), which arranges volunteer visits to older people to provide friendship and companionship. Visits are available to anyone receiving government-subsidised Residential Aged Care or Home Care Packages.

What Is Community Visitors Scheme?

CVS is a national program funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. This one-on-one visiting scheme pairs CVS volunteers from the local community with older people who are receiving government-subsidised Residential Aged Care or Home Care Packages. All volunteers are carefully chosen and matched to the elderly person and their interests and locations. The weekly or fortnightly visits can involve activities such as chatting, reading, listening to music, playing board games, learning to use new technology like a mobile phone or doing gentle exercise together.
