After years of preparation and assessments, our work has paid off and we are well on the way to completing our new aged care facility in Gordon. With 84 en-suites (78 single rooms and 6 double rooms), our nursing home expects to be operated in April 2023.
Our Board and our senior executives have spent countless hours planning the arrival of our Chinese-specific, tranquil, comfortable and high-quality residential aged care facility in Northern Sydney. And their work is bearing fruit!
It is ten years since the Board first identified the need for a new nursing home in Northern Sydney to meet the needs of the growing population of elderly people from Chinese backgrounds living in the region. Despite the challenges of site hunting, property purchase, design, development applications, inviting tenders and the difficulties imposed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, work on the site is progressing well.
Our construction contractor, Grindley, has built many award-winning nursing homes. Prior to our Earth Breaking Ceremony, Grindley organised an Adopt-a-Plant Day for ANHF. Neighbours were invited to get a free plant we’d removed from the construction site to re-plant in their own home. Nearly 20 neighbours supported this meaningful act.
Boffa & Robertson, our architects, and Meli Studio, our interior designer, have ensured an innovative design, which seamlessly blends Chinese and Western design and prioritises environmentally friendly concepts. Our purpose-built nursing home will be eye catching as well as a valued contribution to the Chinese community. Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 and we look forward to welcoming residents in 2023.
